The Role

As a member of the Risk and Compliance team, the Compliance Officer will provide support in financial crime compliance matters, with a particular focus on Anti-Money Laundering. You will be responsible for managing and maintaining the organization’s obligations as it relates to the supervision and reporting of money laundering activities.
This includes designing, evaluating, supporting, and influencing a culture of compliance throughout the organization, as well as assisting in the management and execution of an efficient compliance monitoring program. This position will be based in Accra, Ghana.

The duties and responsibilities of the role will be as follows:

  • Assist in the development of compliance initiatives and programs to comply with the respective legal, licensing, and regulatory obligations
  • Manage the day-to-day compliance activities relating to MFS Africa Ghana and the regulated services it operates
  • Fulfill the duties of the Compliance Officer and MLRO functions
  • Be the primary point of contact for Ghana Compliance/AML supervisory authorities
  • Provide advisory guidance and support for business in Ghana
  • Handle the management and execution of second line monitoring and assessment program for Anti-Money Laundering/Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF)
  • Improve and maintain AML/CTF policies and procedures
  • Manage detailed and prompt investigation of all AML/CTF incidents and cases
  • Provide relevant compliance reporting to ensure the completion and proper analysis of suspicious activity reports that have been conducted

Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant Degree or diploma in Business, Law, Auditing, or a related field
  • Certification such as e.g. ICA (International Compliance Association), or CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist)
  • 3 years’ experience in Compliance, Analytics, Fraud, Money Laundering and Combatting Financing of Terrorism Surveillance
  • Experience in developing and implementing compliance programs
  • Experience in auditing is an added advantage
