Job Description

Orgmento, a software engineering and data sciences consultancy in Ghana, is hiring a Junior Software Engineer for a National Service Personnel position.

The successful candidate will need to clearly demonstrate an affinity for computer coding using general-purpose coding languages such as Python, C/C++/C#, or Java. Although no professional experience is needed to be considered for the role, candidates who can demonstrate personal software projects (e.g., via GitHub) will have a distinct advantage. All training will be provided.

Successful candidates will form part of a dynamic and Agile team, developing software-as-a-service (SaaS) software using enterprise-grade software engineering tools and methodologies. Upon completion of National Service with Orgmento, candidates who have shown dedication, commitment and aptitude to the requisite level are likely to be offered a role with the organisation.

As a company that is committed to the growth and development of its staff, Orgmento is offering the opportunity to be trained in the latest software engineering and data science skills and to work on exciting software projects alongside experienced professionals.

The role is based in Accra, Ghana.

  • This is strictly a National Service position for applicants who completed their Bachelor's degree this year, and who are due to begin their National Service this year.
  • Applicants who have already completed their National Service are not eligible for this role.
  • You will be required to take a technical test as part of the hiring process.

Ideal Candidate Profile
  • You have a positive, can-do attitude to problem-solving, and you always look for lessons in success and failure.
  • When code (inevitably!) goes wrong, you are relentless in trying to understand why it went wrong, how it went wrong, and how to prevent it happening again.
  • You studied for a Bachelors Degree in a computing-related subject e.g., Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Electronics Engineering, Physics, Engineering or Information Systems/Technology.
  • You enjoy the technical challenge of writing, debugging and testing computer code.
  • Your CV shows that you have been growing and improving your computer coding skills through personal projects, hackathons, collaborations on GitHub or group projects.
  • You are committed to a career in software engineering and/or computing.

  • Develop and maintain software applications and systems.
  • Code, test, and debug software programs.
  • Assist with maintenance and troubleshooting of existing systems.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in software engineering.

  • Demonstrable exposure to software development and programming.
  • Proficient in at least one programming language such as (but not limited to) Python, C/C++/C#, or Java.
  • Familiarity with some software development tools such as Git/GitHub, JIRA, Eclipse, or Visual Studio / Code.
  • Knowledge of some algorithms and data structures.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate effectively with others.

  • Performance-related Bonus (up to twice-yearly, depending on performance)
  • Paid Time Off
  • Training and Development
  • Monthly company-wide social events
  • A fun, respectful working environment, where we work hard and play hard
